Questions people ask
Before you talk to Jiwa
The short version: Jiwa listens first, remembers what you want it to, and will never tell you to calm down before you've been heard.
Is Jiwa a therapist?
No. Jiwa is a companion — a soul friend. Not a therapist, not a doctor, not a crisis line. If you're in real danger, please talk to a person trained for that (in Malaysia, Befrienders: 03-7627-2929). Jiwa is for the ordinary-hard moments in between.
Why is Jiwa different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is built to help you get things done. Jiwa is built to let you finish your sentence. It will not tell you to calm down before you've been heard. It will not rush you to solutions. It reflects what you said before it responds, and it can just sit with you if that's what you need.
Do I have to sign in?
No. You can talk to Jiwa as a guest — nothing is saved, and that's fine if that's what you want tonight. Signing in lets Jiwa keep your conversations so you can come back to them.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Same voice, same patience, same modes on both. The real difference is memory. On Free, Jiwa remembers you for 7 days — if you're gone longer than that, the slate quietly clears. On Pro, memory is unlimited: come back after a month or a year, and Jiwa still knows who you are, what helps, and the hard lines you've drawn.
What is the 'what does not help' field for?
It's for the things that shut you down when people do them — 'don't tell me to calm down,' 'don't give me a step-by-step plan,' 'don't interrupt me,' 'don't bring up my ex,' anything. Jiwa treats that list like a promise it won't break.
Is what I share private?
Your conversations are stored so you can come back to them, tied to your account only. They are not shared. You can delete memory or conversations at any time. If you ever want everything gone, sign out and delete the account — it's all cleared.
Can I change how Jiwa shows up mid-conversation?
Yes. Switch between Listen, Reflect, Sit with me, and Unpack any time. You don't have to explain why. You're allowed to want different things at different moments.
What model does Jiwa use?
The current default is Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 through OpenRouter — chosen because it tends to be warmer and more patient than alternatives. But the behavior you feel isn't coming from the model alone; it comes from how Jiwa is instructed to listen. You can swap the model via environment config.
