Common questions

Why not just use ChatGPT to vent?

You can — and people do. The difference is that ChatGPT is optimised to help you act. Jiwacare is optimised to make you feel heard first. The difference shows up the moment you say 'I don't want advice, I just want someone to listen.'

Is Jiwacare a therapist?

No. Jiwacare is a companion — a soul friend. Not a therapist, not a doctor, not a crisis line. If you're in real danger, please talk to a person trained for that (in Malaysia, Befrienders: 03-7627-2929).

Does Jiwacare use ChatGPT under the hood?

No. The current default is Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 via OpenRouter — chosen because it tends to be warmer and more patient. The behaviour you feel comes from how Jiwacare is instructed to listen, not from the model alone.

Jiwacare is not a therapist or crisis line. If you're in danger, please reach a real person — in Malaysia, Befrienders at 03-7627-2929.
